Frequently asked questions

Answers to your first questions

Can’t find your question? Just send us a message. We reply quickly and are always happy to help.

How is my trip tailored at Kembe Safari?

+

Your safari doesn’t start with a standard route, but with what you want. We think along with you about parks, pace and accommodation, and together we put together a trip that genuinely suits you.

Can I combine a safari with a stay on Zanzibar?

+

Absolutely! A stay on Zanzibar is a popular way to round off a safari. We arrange the domestic flight and accommodation that suits you, so the transition is seamless.

What is the best time to visit Tanzania for a safari?

+

Tanzania is beautiful all year round. The dry season (June to October) is ideal for spotting wildlife; January and February are wonderful for the calving season on the southern Serengeti plains. We’re happy to advise on the best period for what you have in mind.

Can I book a private guide and driver for my safari?

+

Yes. All our safaris are private: you travel with your own party, your own 4x4 Land Cruiser and your own driver-guide who grew up in Tanzania.

Should I book my safari in advance or is last minute possible?

+

Booking ahead gives you the widest choice of accommodation, certainly in high season. But we are happy to think along for last minute plans too. Send us a message and we will look straight away at what is possible.

What are the visa requirements for Tanzania and how do I apply?

+

For Tanzania you apply online for an e-Visa (Ordinary Visa, US$ 50, valid for 90 days). Allow 3–4 weeks for processing. We’ll guide you through the application step by step.

Do I need vaccinations for Tanzania?

+

For Tanzania, DTP and hepatitis A are among the vaccinations recommended; depending on your route, malaria prophylaxis may be wise. Always consult your local travel health clinic for personal advice.

How does Kembe Safari support local communities?

+

We do not buy in the safari itself: our own guides and drivers do the driving, and we book lodges and camps directly, without intermediaries taking the money out of Tanzania. Only the flight goes through the major airlines. On top of that we invest, from Kembe Safari and our own means, in the farm and the power supply near the Ngorongoro Crater, and we donate for the water well, the school and the community. Since 2022 that has produced our own water source, a school building with a teacher's house, irrigation and permanent power. And for every trip booked we plant a baobab tree.
