The Kembe promise
Experiencing Tanzania in the way that suits your family
A safari with children needs thought. Not every day has to be full. Not every route suits every age. And sometimes an afternoon of swimming is worth just as much as another game drive.
That is why your trip doesn’t start with a route, but with your family. Who is coming? How old are the children? What do you dream of? We build a trip that works from those answers.
Why Kembe
Why families choose us
You don’t entrust a long-haul trip with your children to just anyone. This is what puts families at ease with us, and why they recommend us to others afterwards.
The guide
Someone who grew up here
Our guides were born in Tanzania. They know the country from the inside and turn every question a child asks into a story.
Personal
One familiar face throughout
From first idea to coming home you speak to the same person every time, by name, and on WhatsApp during the trip too.
Where you stay
Lodges that work for families
Family rooms, good food and, where possible, a pool. After a day full of impressions you want somewhere comfortable to land.
Pace
Downtime, built in for children
Short drives, time for swimming and room simply to be a child. We plan the day so it stays fun for everyone.
A day on safari
What a day looks like with children along
A child-friendly pace isn’t a promise, it’s a plan. This is how we build a safari day so it stays exciting and manageable, for the little ones and for you.
✦ Early morning
As the animals wake up
Out early while it’s cool and the lions are still hunting. The most exciting hours, exactly when the children are still fresh.
✦ Late morning
Back before the heat
Around the hottest part of the day you’re already back at the lodge. No endless drives, but plenty of room for a story or a nap.
✦ Afternoon
Splashing about and recharging
Swimming, lunch, a game. Your guide plans the day so there is time simply to be a child.
✦ Evening
Stars and stories
A final drive into the sunset, then dinner under a sky full of stars. This is what they’ll remember all their lives.

Personal
Deliberately a small team
We have deliberately stayed small. That way we know every family who travels with us and keep time for the details that make your trip special.
✦
We look after a limited number of families each year. That is exactly why every trip gets real attention.
✦
We like to plan popular school holidays well in advance, so the nicest lodges are still available.
✦
More and more families find us through friends who have already travelled with us.
“
Every family who travels with us becomes a little bit family. That starts with really listening and ends with stories you’ll still be telling at home for years.

Karibu
Welcome to Tanzania
With us you travel in connection with the country and its people: not as tourists, but as guests.

Travel with meaning
Your trip helps build Tanzania
We work with local guides and partners and support projects around clean drinking water, education, farming and community. For children that makes a trip even more valuable: they see what their journey sets in motion.
